Recently I had the pleasure of working with Janet Seney and Jim Van Der Tas when selling my home.  Their dedication to making everything 'just right' was admirable, and the attention to detail was amazing.  When I originally thought the house was presentable, Janet always found a way to make it even more so!  Janet completely understood how stressful a time it can be when selling. As a result, everything was explained clearly to me from the very beginning, and to say the whole process went smoothly is an understatement.   For professionalism and complete care when buying or selling a property, I highly recommend using Janet and Jim's services; you won’t be disappointed.

I have known them personally for more than 10 years, and from my broad experience with their conduct in various circles, I was already expecting a high level of quality of service.  What we received, however, blew those expectations out of the water.

We spent more than a year waffling on whether to sell, but personal circumstances eventually forced a sale.  During that year, Janet was helpful and patient with my many questions.  She would often provide unsolicited information on comparables in the neighborhood or other interesting developments, which helped to stay attuned to how the market was changing at any given time, but was never pushy or hovering.

When we finally did decide to put the unit up for sale, the market was turning and time was extremely short.  Janet helped prioritize a list of quick hits to make the house more marketable.  We made good progress, but as the photo day loomed, Janet picked up a paint brush herself to help make the date.  I welcomed the help, but was very surprised by this level of dedication.

In the end, the photos and matterport were incredible.  This was partly due to the advance effort, but also because of staging effort and getting the right photographer.  Janet is capable, well connected, and knows exactly what she wants for these services.

During the time on the market, there was an open house every weekend, attended by at least Jim or Janet.  At the end of every day, we received very detailed reports about visitors and prospects, which really helped keep expectations set appropriately.

Throughout negotiations, they were confident and knowledgeable and communicative.  In some very challenging market conditions, we met our selling price expectations within a very short time window and got the quick possession we were looking for.  A highly successful outcome for us.

In my opinion, this success is the result of working with a team composed of both Janet and Jim.  Their strengths complement each other well.  Janet is the back office--extremely detailed and organized and leaves nothing to chance.  Jim comes across as the sales guy--gregarious, charismatic and helping buyers dream big.  Despite their different strengths, deep market knowledge, unflinching integrity and customer service are at the core in both of them.

I would not hesitate to engage them in the future, and in fact look forward to the chance to do so.

Janet Seney was our efficient realtor when we bought our first townhouse.  I was impressed with her from start to finish.  She was prompt in arranging viewings for properties that interested us.  She was punctual; she was well organized and we kept to her schedule, allowing us to view all the properties in one day.  She provided us with a lot of current sales information to help us decide on a price.  When our offer was accepted with conditions, she reviewed the Strata documents in detail, as we did, and interpreted them for us.  She was very knowledgeable.  She was a dedicated communicator.  Any conversations between the seller’s realtor and Janet were relayed to us.  We were never left wondering.

The partnership with Janet worked wonderfully. I stress it was a partnership. I never felt like I was being pushed or under stress to make decisions. Janet provided thoughtful guidance throughout the process. She was totally on top of the paperwork. But she also listened to my agenda and what I wanted to do and blended that with her experience. Highly recommend Janet if you are buying or selling or just need advice.

Gold standard in real estate. I can’t say enough about the lengths Janet & Jim went to in order to complete our sale. They weren’t afraid to get in there to make it happen, had great contacts and suggestions for assistance, and were always available and willing to help out. They had such a good sense of what was needed – they took charge when they could see that we required assistance, but deferred to us when we had our own ideas. They were not forceful in their opinions and directions, but were diplomatic, thoughtful, and caring … then a power house negotiator when it came to making a deal. They had the tenacity and stamina to stay focussed despite all of our significant setbacks and the involvement of so many family members.

I would highly recommend Jim & Janet to all those wanting to buy or sell a home. As a first time or a repeat home buyer/seller, you are always nervous and filled with mixed emotion. All of my stresses and questions were eased with the help and support of Jim & Janet.
